A Memorable Visit to Tokyo Tower – Day and Night Beauty in the Heart of the City
One of the moments I had most looked forward to during my trip to Tokyo, Japan, was finally visiting Tokyo Tower. By day, it offers a striking harmony between tradition and modernity, and by night, it transforms into a breathtaking beacon of light. In this post, I’ll share the diverse charms of Tokyo Tower through my personal experience and photos.
📍 Where is Tokyo Tower & How to Get There?
Tokyo Tower is located in Minato City (Minato-ku) and is easily accessible from several stations. It’s about a 10–15 minute walk from JR Hamamatsucho Station, Toei Onarimon Station, or Akabanebashi Station. I personally walked from Akabanebashi Station, and the peaceful streets made it feel more like a relaxing stroll than a commute.
🏯 Zojoji Temple & Tokyo Tower – A Stunning Backdrop
One of the most iconic photo spots for Tokyo Tower is from Zojoji Temple (増上寺). Nestled quietly within the city, this serene temple offers a stunning contrast of traditional Japanese architecture with the modern steel structure of Tokyo Tower rising behind it.
As the sun began to set, the sight of the temple roof overlapping with the tower and the glowing sky created a magical, almost timeless view. It’s a beautiful fusion that only Tokyo can deliver.
🌆 Sunset Vibes – The Emotional Twilight of Tokyo Tower
🌃 Tokyo Tower at Night – A Lit Beacon of the City
Once night falls, Tokyo Tower changes completely. Bathed in a warm orange light, it becomes a luminous presence in the Tokyo skyline. While it’s a popular night view spot from a distance, being right under it and looking up is a whole different experience—absolutely stunning.
Whether framed by surrounding buildings or seen through tree branches, Tokyo Tower stood tall and beautiful from every angle.
🎏 A Special Season – Koinobori Decorations for Children’s Day
I happened to visit during the lead-up to Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi) in Japan, and the area around Tokyo Tower was decorated with colorful koinobori (carp streamers). It was a beautiful moment where I could feel the blend of Japanese tradition and festive culture, making the experience even more unique.
🌸 Cityscape from the Observation Deck – Tokyo’s Romantic Night
Head up to the Tokyo Tower observation deck, and the entire Tokyo cityscape unfolds before your eyes. On the day I visited, the windows were beautifully decorated with sakura (cherry blossom) motifs and soft lighting, adding to the romantic mood. I was so captivated that I completely lost track of time. It’s a view that makes you want to come back again.
✨ In Conclusion – Tokyo Tower Is More Than a Landmark
Tokyo Tower is not just a tourist destination—it’s a healing space in the heart of the city. With a completely different mood between day and night, it’s worth visiting twice in one day. From the harmony with Zojoji Temple to the breathtaking night views and the seasonal decorations, every visit brings something special.
If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, make sure Tokyo Tower is at the very top of your list. It’s a place where you can feel both beauty and emotion—a moment you’ll never forget.
