When traveling in Jeju, every meal feels more special.
Especially in the morning, it’s not easy to find a hearty and comforting meal that doesn't feel too heavy.
That’s exactly what I found at Goseong Jangteo Gukbap, a local spot near Seongsan recommended by many Jeju residents.
This humble eatery is close to Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak), so it’s a perfect stop before heading to Udo or exploring Jeju’s eastern side.
🥣 Momguk – A Taste of Jeju in Every Spoonful
I ordered Momguk (₩7,000), a traditional Jeju-style seaweed pork soup that I had never tried before.
It’s made with ‘mom’ (mozuku seaweed) and tender slices of pork, slowly simmered into a light but flavorful broth.
The flavor was deep, comforting, and unlike any soup I’ve had before.
The seaweed adds an earthy ocean aroma, while the pork gives it a rich, savory body.
It came with rice already mixed into the soup, so it was ready to eat right away — simple, filling, and so satisfying.
It’s the perfect dish if you're looking for something easy on the stomach, especially after a night out or for a light yet hearty breakfast.

I visited around 8 AM, and to my surprise, there were barely any other customers.
It was calm and quiet, making for a peaceful solo breakfast.
While many places near tourist attractions are crowded, this spot was a refreshing change.
If you're an early riser, I highly recommend coming here in the morning for a quiet start to your day.

There are a few parking spaces right in front of the restaurant.
But if those are full, you can easily park in nearby alleys — there’s plenty of space and it’s easy to find.
Even if you're driving, parking won't be a headache here.
